After midnight, check the next N6002 bus from your arrival terminal. It stops in Hongdae, but there is a long gap between departures: 01:40–04:00 at Terminal 1 and 01:20–03:40 at Terminal 2. If that wait does not work for you, take an official taxi to your accommodation or stay at the airport until morning transport starts.
Make that decision after immigration, baggage collection and customs, using the time you can actually reach the bus stop. A flight landing at 00:30 does not mean you can catch a 00:40 bus.

Before choosing, message your accommodation: “I expect to arrive after 02:00. Can I still check in, and how do I enter?” A ride to Hongdae is useful only if you can get into the building when you arrive.
N6002 departures from each terminal
N6002 is the night route to look for. The airport lists Hongdae as a stop on its route towards Cheongnyangni. N6002 and the daytime 6002 are different services. Use the night route timetable below. Incheon Airport night bus guide

The operator lists an adult fare of ₩17,000 and a fare of ₩10,000 for children aged 6–12. Buy a bus ticket before boarding; the T1 instructions specifically direct passengers travelling into the city to the airport ticket machine. The airport gives approximate running times to Hongdae of 45 minutes from T1 and 65 minutes from T2. These are bus journey estimates, before the walk to your accommodation. T1 guide, T2 guide
Check the current departure and seat availability when buying your ticket. Keep the terminal and direction correct: an airport-bound timetable is for the opposite trip.
The long gap changes the decision
For example, if you are ready to leave T1 at 01:50, the published next N6002 is 04:00: a wait of 2 hours 10 minutes before the bus journey begins. If you are ready at 03:45, that same departure is only 15 minutes away, before allowing for ticketing and boarding.
At T2, being ready at 01:30 gives the same 2-hour-10-minute wait for 03:40. These are examples calculated from the timetable, not estimates of how quickly you will clear immigration.
Where to get off in Hongdae
Select Hongik Univ. on the operator’s airport-to-city route page. It identifies the drop-off as the roadside in front of Olive Young, stop 14801, and says the bus may pass the stop if nobody is getting off. Tell the driver you need Hongdae when boarding. View the official Hongik Univ. stop map
Save the drop-off and your accommodation separately in NAVER Map. Check the walking route between them before buying the bus ticket. A hotel described as “Hongdae” may be some distance from this stop, particularly if it is closer to Yeonnam, Hapjeong or Sangsu.
Plan the last part of the trip above ground. If your map suggests walking through the station, choose a street route for a late arrival. Save your building entrance, floor and door instructions as well as the hotel name.

Taking a taxi to your accommodation
A taxi is the practical alternative when the next bus is hours away or you need a direct ride with luggage. Follow signs to the designated taxi rank. The airport warns against drivers soliciting passengers while posing as taxis. Incheon Airport taxi guide
For a Seoul standard taxi, the airport lists a 40% night surcharge from 23:00–02:00, and 20% from 22:00–23:00 and 02:00–04:00. Other taxi categories have different rules. The published ₩4,800 base fare is the starting fare, not the price of the trip to Hongdae.
Ask about the fare basis and tolls before leaving. If you choose a fixed-price service, confirm the total and what it includes; if you use a metered taxi, treat any estimate as an estimate. Check vehicle capacity with your bags rather than assuming everyone in your party will fit.
For comparison, N6002 adult tickets cost ₩34,000 for two people or ₩51,000 for three. Compare that total with the taxi quote, the bus wait and the walk after getting off. This calculation does not establish that a taxi will be cheaper.

Waiting for morning transport
If you decide to wait, choose the departure first so you know how much time you need to fill. Check the airport departure screens or AREX station timetable before walking to the platform.
The published first city-bound departures are 05:14 from T1 and 05:08 from T2 in both the weekday and holiday tables checked for this guide. For Hongdae, use an all-stop train serving Hongik Univ. If you reach the railway station before midnight, check the destination of the remaining trains: some late services terminate before Hongik Univ. Do not board a train just because it is described as the last airport train.
For a room while waiting, DARAKHYU has capsule hotels in the public transportation centres at both terminals. Check availability and the correct overnight booking date directly with DARAKHYU. For an arrival at 01:00, ask how the hotel assigns the preceding evening’s overnight stay. A 24-hour facility listing does not guarantee a vacant room.
Also confirm when your Hongdae accommodation will let you in if you travel there in the morning. Waiting for the train may still leave several hours before its normal check-in time.
Before your flight
- Save your arrival terminal and the correct N6002 timetable.
- Get written late check-in instructions from your accommodation.
- Save the Korean address, entrance and route from stop 14801.
- Decide how much waiting you are comfortable with if you miss the bus.
- Keep the official timetable links available so you can adjust the plan after landing.
